The Future Is Now

1914-1918~~ World War I
1920's~~ The Roarin' Twenties
1930's~~ The Great Depression
1940's~~ World War II
1950's~~ Rock 'n' Roll Era
1960's~~ The Social Revolution
1970's~~ World Peace, Drugs, and Disco
1980's~~ A New Kind of Music--  Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Techno, Michael Jackson, Madonna
1990's~~ The Beginning of the Technological Era
2000's~~  Now.

All of those things that went on to build our country!  That's what's led us to the future... right now.  I like to think that this is the "Technological Era."  Or something along those lines.  I mean, really, if you think about it... we've made so, so, SO many technological advances in the past few years it's scary.  Take the iPhone, for example.  What used to be a brick you held up to your ear has turned into this little, touch screen phone that allows you access to anything you want.  Is that not incredible?  We're all thinking, "Man, I can't wait 'til cars fly!"  or "When are they going to make a practical jet-pack?"  But think about all that we already have!  We're really living in the future.  Electric cars, 3D Television, GPS, and endless more.  You can even play a video game without any controllers!  It's amazing!

But there is a problem with all of these things.  We are all becoming spoiled, selfish, and obsessed with our things.  Like the people who spend hours on Facebook?  You know who you are.  The people who check their email every five minutes instead of just calling someone... yeah, I'm talking to you.  This world has become so obsessed with their possessions that they don't even have any friends except for "Maltax3145" on their virtual life.  Those people who sit in their rooms all day long sitting on the Internet.  Can you imagine what a boring life that would be?  Well that's what we're all becoming!

I challenge you all to call a friend you haven't spoken to in a while (or maybe you have) and go hang out with them.  Maybe bake some cookies to give to someone without asking for anything in return.  You could even do it anonymously!  Have a craft day with one of your siblings.  Just make sure you don't sit around the house all day complaining because you have nothing to do.  Trust me-- it will be a challenge for me!
